Celebrated the 100th anniversary of the champion of the year 1933

He has become a legend in his hometown and across the country in Albania. Tato Bimbli, former well-known footballer of “Skenderbeu” team in ‘30s, has celebrated the 100th anniversary along with friends and fans. The Last Korça player of his generation, Bimbli is greeted by friends, numerous colleagues and authorities. He has already become the symbol of football in his hometown of Korca, whose team has been sub-champion since the first national championship of Albania held in 1930. He won the title Champion with “Skenderbeu” team in 1933, being the most prominent player of Korca team. Bimli played football until the end of World War II. Later, he is committed to the profession of coach, coaching the youth team of “Skenderbeu” with which he is declared champion three times in the years 1949, 1951 and 1959.

On behalf of the AFF and the president Armand Duka, the jubilee of 100th anniversary of Tato Bimbli was welcomed also by the Representative of Regional Office Mr. Renato Rrapo. He handed to century ex-football player the symbol jersey of Albanian national team with No. 100. The President Mr. Duka praising his image, among others in the telegram of congratulation sent to the veteran player, said: “Considering his image today, we do an homage to a well-known generation of footballers of ‘30s, that between difficulties knew how to donate a lovely football and to enter the hearts of many fans. Congratulations to Tato Bimbli in this 100th anniversary”.

In honor of this anniversary, it ran a Cup with the participation of six teams aged 10-11 years. The activities were followed with particular interest from local media. In these activities took part also the Mayor of Korca, the Prefect and representatives of the Albanian Football Federation and the Regional Office of this city.
