Now it is official. Christian Panucci will be the next coach of Albania’s national football team. The Italian coach was the final choice of President of Albanian Football Association Armand Duka , after a series of long consultations and negotiations. He namely thanked the other candidates such as , De Canio , Seedorf, Zenga and Malesani , praising their availability to work with the Albanian national team.
The head of AFA , Armand Duka believes that Panucci is the right man to qualify Albania in Euro 2020.
‘’The process lasted in time, for the fact that it wasn’t an easy decision. I find the opportunity to thank all the other candidates , starting with De Canio, Zenga, Seedorf and Malesani. I believe that we took the best decision. He is one of the most important names of Italian and International football. I’m convinced that we have made the right decision, taking into consideration the characteristics of the coach. I and the entire staff share the same conviction that we will be part of EURO 2020.
Meanwhile, after signing the contract, Panucci would say : I want to thank President Duka for the opportunity, but above all this is a huge responsibility for me. We have a great team. When this experience is over I hope to give something to the team. We have four important matches ahead of us, and the qualification for the World Cup is nearly impossible , but that is to be seen. I’m patiently waiting to start the work in this country , which is increasing significantly , especially in football. It was very easy for me to accept the role of the head coach of Albania. I was looking for something serious to begin my career. The main aim is EURO 2020’’. Gianni De Biasi has done an excellent job. It is the right thing to praise this , and be grateful. He wrote an important chapter for Albania, but now starts a new one , and I will try to achieve something important. I will try to write history another time with this team. The group that De Biasi built and the entire team raised Albania in another level , a higher one. If there are talented and capable players, they will play in the team. As I have talked with president Duka, if there are important players for the team , the door will always be open.
