The Albanian national team continues to strengthen its bond with the Red-and-Black supporters, becoming the leading symbol of sporting identity for Albanians. This is confirmed by the findings of the UEFA Grow Market Research report, conducted by UEFA in cooperation with the prestigious agency Nielsen. According to the study, support for the Albanian national team has experienced remarkable growth over the past decade.
In 2016, 61% of fans stated that they supported the national team, while in 2026 this figure has risen to 91%, placing Albania well above the European average of 70%. The report highlights that the national team has become the top priority for Albanian fans. Among those who follow both club football and national teams, 70% consider the national team more important, while only 15% place club football first.
These figures demonstrate the strengthening connection between fans and the red-and-black jersey, as well as the growing sense of identification with Albania’s national teams, which in recent years have delivered many memorable moments and important results on the international stage.
The report also shows that Albanian fans continue to follow international club football extensively. According to the study, 35% of fans support a club outside Albania, while 28% say they support a domestic club. These findings reflect the Albanian public’s strong interest in European football alongside their deep attachment to the national teams.
The study further reveals that Albanian fans continue to follow other European national teams as well. Italy remains the most supported foreign national team at 29%, followed by Germany at 26%. Nevertheless, support for the Albanian national team remains dominant and is at the highest levels ever recorded.
The report’s findings confirm that the Albanian national team continues to be the strongest unifying force among supporters and one of the key drivers of interest and passion for football in the country.
