A hard-fought match for the Albanian Women’s National Team in their UEFA Nations League opener against Ukraine, but the visitors secured a 2-1 victory at “Niko Dovana” Stadium.
The only goal for Albania was scored by Fortesa Berisha.
The starting lineup for Albania, chosen by coach Armir Grima was: Viona Rexhepi (G), Armera Tukaj, Arbenita Curraj, Lavdije Begolli, Fortesa Berisha, Valentina Troka, Qendresa Krasniqi, Megi Doçi (C), Ezmiralda Franja, Klea Hamonikaj, and Alma Hilaj.
In the “Niko Dovana” stadium, there was an electrifying atmosphere with fans who positively responded to the invitation to support the National Team in this match.
The teams controlled the game in the early minutes, and the match was unlocked in the 31st minute. Olha Ovdiychuk scored for Ukraine. In the second half, the opponents scored the second goal in the 48th minute through Nicole Kozlova.
Albania tried to respond and, after several chances, found the back of the net only at the end of the match with Fortesa Berisha.
The match ended with a 2-1 victory for Ukraine.
On February 25, Albania will play their second match away against the Czech Republic at 17:30.
