Representatives of UEFA have carried out another visit to Albania as part of the preparations for the finals of the 2027 UEFA European Under-21 Championship, where Albania will be one of the two host countries of this prestigious tournament.
During four days of inspections, UEFA experts visited the stadiums that will host matches during the competition, focusing on the technical and operational aspects of the event’s organization. Particular attention was given to lighting systems, backup generators, security measures, and other key elements related to UEFA’s required standards for international matches.
The visit began with an inspection of “Loro Boriçi” Stadium in Shkodër, followed by a visit to “Elbasan Arena”. On the third day of the agenda, UEFA representatives inspected “Air Albania Stadium” and “Arena e Demave”, two venues currently undergoing significant infrastructure upgrades in preparation for EURO U-21 2027.
During their stay in Tirana, the delegation reviewed the progress of work at Air Albania Stadium, where improvements are being made to the pitch foundation and a new hybrid grass surface is being installed in accordance with UEFA’s highest standards.
UEFA representatives also examined the ongoing work at “Arena e Demave”, where the process of replacing the artificial turf with natural grass has begun. The project includes removing the existing surface, installing a new irrigation system, and creating a new playing field that will meet the requirements for hosting international matches.
This latest visit confirms the close cooperation between the Albanian Football Association and UEFA in the organization of the 2027 UEFA European Under-21 Championship finals. The federation continues to work toward meeting all organizational and infrastructure standards, with the goal of ensuring that Albania successfully hosts one of the most important youth football events in Europe.
