The U-17 National Team coach, Andrea Tedesco, spoke to the media after the European Championship draw, where Albania learned its opponents in Group A. The red and blacks will face France, Germany, and Portugal, while coach Tedesco acknowledged the high level of the participating teams, emphasizing that every opponent in the group would be a tough challenge.
He also expressed pride in representing Albania in this tournament and highlighted that the team will give its maximum in every match. The U-17 National Team coach also spoke about the importance of the team’s identity and the objectives of player development in this elite competition.
The Draw? – We previously discussed this with my colleagues. All the opponents in our group are very strong. No matter which team we were drawn against, it would have been difficult because there are seven strong teams coming from associations that invest heavily in youth football.
Facing Italy? – As an Italian, it would have been special to face Italy, but at this stage, all the teams are strong, and we have great challenges ahead. I am here to represent the Albanian Football Association and carry the responsibility of representing this country in the best possible way, both in terms of football and in the spirit of the tournament.
Who would you like to face from Group B? – If I had to choose a team, I would say Italy. This is a unique event, and I am happy and proud to represent Albania. I am confident that all the players will give their maximum. They will step onto the field to do their best and represent the nation.
What should players keep in mind for the European Championship? – It is very important for them to appreciate the opportunity to represent their country in such events. In youth football, what matters most is the representation and how you perform on the field, not just the result. It won’t be difficult to motivate the players because they will already feel immense pride in stepping onto the field for their country. We need to establish a strong identity so that those watching from the outside can recognize the growth of this team. The players participating in this competition will experience professional development in the future, and they should take pride in the investment made by the Association.
Squad selection for the European Championship? – In this regard, I am very happy because I have had the opportunity to observe many players. We will select the best, not only for this tournament but also for the future of other age groups beyond U-17. When it comes to young players, it is very easy to make mistakes because, in just six months or a year, a player can undergo significant development. It is very different from what you might see at a given moment. Together with my staff and the Technical Director, we will strive to make the right choices, players who will not only be part of the team in the future but who are also in the best physical and footballing condition for this competition.
