The President of the Swiss Football Association, Dominique Blanc had a two-day visit in Albania. During this visit he was hosted by the AFA President, Armand Duka, General Secretary of AFA, Ilir Shulku and Administrative Director of AFA, Aldi Topçiu.
The purpose of this meeting was the exchange of experiences and the discussion of different projects between the two associations.
The head of the Swiss Association inspected the “House of Football” premises and saw up close the training grounds, the training center of the national team, the interior premises of the administrative grounds and museum, where he had the opportunity to get to know the history of Albanian football.
The Swiss Association has in its program the construction of a training center, and for this reason, President Blanc was very interested in visiting in detail “House of Football”.
In a statement for fshf.org. President Blanc expressed his admiration for the achievements of the AFA, particularly for the “My Uniform” project, where the association offers free training materials to young people who join football.
“First of all, I want to thank you very much for the invitation. I am quite impressed with what I have seen here, an association with great development, with very modern tools to develop football in Albania. I have seen everything. I am especially impressed by the fact that the association offers young football players a full set of basic training materials for free. This is the first time I have heard of something like this, and I want to congratulate you. I also noticed that in every sector of football, there is strong development and readiness to move football forward, I have very good impressions,” – said the head of the Swiss Football Association, while also recalling, amongst other things, the match between Albania and Switzerland, played on June 11, 2016, in the “EURO 2016” finals in Lens, France.
“I would say that the most interesting story I have with Albanian football was the famous match against Switzerland in 2016 in France, where your national team participated for the first time in the final stages of European Championship. It was a fantastic match in Lens, France between Albania and Switzerland. In that match, there were players of Albanian origin in the field with Switzerland. The match was very high level, with a lot of emotions. And this is the friendship that football offered us back then,”- emphasized Dominique Blanc.
