The Refereeing Sector, ahead of the start of the 2025/26 football season, held a three-day training for the officials of “Abissnet Superiore” and the First Division, focused on the use of the VAR system.
For the first time, this training is being conducted at the new VAR system center near the “House of Football,” the latest investment by the Albanian Football Association in service of refereeing and Albanian football.
All referees and assistants of “Abissnet Superiore” and the First Division were introduced to the latest EVS technology, which has been implemented in this center, followed by practical sessions focused on decision-making in different game situations.
In a brief statement for fshf.org, First Division referee Gerard Çokaj praised the three-day training at the “House of Football” and described the new VAR system center as a very important investment for Albanian football.
“Today is the third day of the training we are conducting at the FSHF center. The training has gone very well over these three days, both theoretically and practically. We’ve had the fortune to work with highly qualified VAR instructors. The new center at FSHF greatly helps Albanian football. The technical aspect is better, both for referees working with VAR and those on the field. The new technology connects the federation with all European federations, where in every major league the VAR system is implemented within the federation. It’s a very good and useful investment made by FSHF,” said Gerard Çokaj.
The training aims to raise the standards of refereeing and the efficient application of VAR technology in national championships.
