Rolando Maran is officially the new head coach of the Albanian National Team. During a press conference held on Tuesday morning at the “House of Football,” the President of the Football Federation, Armand Duka, introduced the new coach of our national team, Mr. Rolando Maran, who has signed a one-and-a-half-year contract with the Albanian Football Association.
His assistant on the Red and Black bench will be Christian Maraner, who has also signed his contract with the AFA.
President Duka also explained the details agreed upon with the new national team coach, emphasizing that the objectives are first place in the Nations League and qualification for the UEFA Euro 2028 finals.
The head of the FSHF gave special thanks to the former national team staff, led by Sylvinho, for all the achievements and successes with the Albanian national team.
“Welcome today on this important day for the national team and the FSHF, in which we will officially announce the name of the new national team coach, Mr. Rolando Maran. At the same time, we are closing a chapter with the former national team coach, Mr. Sylvinho, and his staff, whom I would like to thank on behalf of the FSHF, myself, and all the fans for the contribution made by Sylvinho, Doriva, and Zabaleta during this period with the Albanian National Team, and for the results achieved. Together we have gone through an important period full of emotions — we have laughed, cried, and celebrated together.
“It is part of both personal history and the history of all Albanian football. Sylvinho and his staff have left their mark, but in football it can be considered normal for one cycle to end and a new one to begin. With full understanding and mutual respect, together with Sylvinho, Doriva, and Pablo Zabaleta, we believed and agreed by consensus that this cycle should close in order to open a new one — with a coach who may not be young in age, but who has a great deal of experience, such as Mr. Rolando Maran.
Objectives – The national team has set its own standards and level where we want to be. The objectives remain first place in the Nations League, qualification for EURO 2028, and then continuing toward the objective we have never yet achieved: being part of the 2030 World Cup.
I do not want to speak too long. I want to thank Sylvinho, Doriva, and Pablo Zabaleta for their cooperation and contribution to the Albanian National Team.
I wish coach Rolando Maran success with the national team. I did not present Mr. Maran’s CV because he is already a well-known name in European football. He has 25 years of coaching experience, having managed important teams in Italy’s Serie A and Serie B. I am very convinced that we will do well in the Nations League and the qualifiers,” said President Armand Duka during the presentation of the new Albanian national team coach.

Furthermore, the new coach of our national team, Rolando Maran, said he was very happy about his new role and thanked President Armand Duka for his trust, while also complimenting former coach Sylvinho for all the work he had done with the Red and Blacks over the years.
“I want to thank the President for giving me this opportunity. I also want to thank Sylvinho for his words, and congratulations for what he has done during these years. I have followed the Albanian National Team closely, and for that you have all my compliments. I return to thanking the President because he is giving me the opportunity to coach a national team that represents a people with great pride. Being close to your country, it is something you can truly feel every time you speak with an Albanian supporter.
It is a great honor for me, and my promise is that we will transmit all your love for the jersey onto the field, by giving everything from myself and by asking the same from everyone who will work with me — my staff, the players, and everyone here at the FSHF with whom we will work together.
For me, this is a commitment I am undertaking. I become emotional because it is something I deeply feel inside; what I feel for this mission is very strong. What I want to say is this: we must show on the field what you represent, all the supporters and the nation,” said the new national team coach, Rolando Maran.
