The Durrës Regional Football Association held the proceedings of its Electoral General Assembly this Friday, with 27 members of the association participating, represented by 36 delegates.
This Assembly had originally been scheduled to take place on Tuesday, but due to flooding that affected the city of Durrës, it was postponed to today.
At the Assembly held in Durrës, the activity report for 2025 was reviewed, participants were informed about the achievements and challenges of the past year, and the financial statements and the budget for 2026 were approved.
One of the most important items on the agenda was the election of the President of the Durrës Regional Football Association for the next four-year term. The body responsible for organizing the electoral process, the Verification Commission, announced that only one candidacy had been submitted for the position of President, specifically the request for re-candidacy by Mr. Mikel Furxhi, proposed by 26 members of the association.
The Electoral General Assembly of the Durrës Regional Football Association unanimously decided to elect Mr. Mikel Furxhi as President of SHRF Durrës for a four (4)-year mandate.
In his speech following the re-election, the President of SHRF Durrës, Mikel Furxhi, thanked everyone for the trust and support, emphasizing that he will continue to work for the development of football in the city.
“First of all, I would like to express my sincerest thanks and deepest gratitude for the trust you have placed in me today by re-electing me as President of the Durrës Regional Football Association for another four-year mandate.
This re-election represents a great honor for me, but above all an increased responsibility. It is a moral and institutional obligation to continue the work with the same seriousness, professionalism, and dedication, always keeping at the center the interests of clubs, athletes, coaches, referees, and the entire football community of Durrës.
During the previous mandate, we faced challenges that were not easy, but we proved that through cooperation, dialogue, and goodwill we can build stronger and more functional structures. We laid important foundations for the organization of competitions, the support of clubs, and the creation of a fairer and more transparent environment for the development of regional football. The new mandate that begins today will be a continuation of this work, but also a step further forward. Our priorities will remain clear: strengthening the Association as an institution, increasing cooperation with the Albanian Football Association, providing concrete support to clubs and academies, and creating the best possible conditions for the development of youth football, which forms the foundation of the future of our sport,” said Mikel Furxhi in his speech.
In addition to the President, the delegates who will represent SHRF Durrës at the Electoral General Assembly of the Albanian Football Association were also elected. These are the President of SHRF Durrës, Mikel Furxhi, along with Agron Kërcova and Rivelino Feimi.
The agenda also included proposals for candidates for President of the Albanian Football Association and for members of the Executive Committee. The members of the association proposed Mr. Armand Duka as a candidate for the position of AFA President, a proposal that was voted unanimously by all 36 delegates during the Assembly proceedings.
Meanwhile, as a candidate for membership in the Executive Committee of the Albanian Football Association, the members of SHRF Durrës voted for Mr. Edmond Hasanbelli, former president of the Teuta football club.
