The Albanian Football Association after being informed of today’s decision of the European Court of Justice regarding the case of the so-called “European Super League”, expresses its firm position that this decision in its essence does not authorize or allow the creation of a European Super League, but contains a guideline for UEFA and FIFA to install policies and clearly establish criteria in the administration of the authorization system for football competitions, which must be in full conformity with the principles of EU competition law.
What the decision of the European Court of Justice has determined today is in the reflection and in the essence of the efforts of the last two years of UEFA and FIFA to harmonize exactly the system of these criteria with EU law and we believe that already we are on the right track in accordance with the approach of this decision.
The Albanian Football Association stands with UEFA, FIFA, ECA, FIFPro, the European Leagues or even governments and European governmental institutions and their unstoppable efforts for the development of football in a progressive way, based on the principles of open competition, inclusiveness, sports meritocracy and true solidarity.
