The Albanian Football Association continues its commitment to supporting the community and promoting the values of sport by carrying out a meaningful investment: the construction of a mini football pitch in memory of the late footballer Martin Cani, who tragically lost his life near the “Fan Noli” school in November 2024.
The mini-pitch, which now bears his name, is conceived as a tribute to a young talent of Albanian football, as well as a dedicated space for children in the area—a place where they can play, grow, and be educated through sport.
At the inauguration ceremony were present Anila Basha, a member of the AFA Executive Committee, as well as Martin Cani’s family members, in a moment filled with emotion and gratitude.
In her statement to fshf.org, Anila Basha emphasized the importance of this initiative:
“Today we inaugurate a field that will carry Martin’s name, a talented boy with great potential. This is a contribution from the Federation not only to honor his memory, but also to encourage children to choose sport as a path for development. In this way, we also send a clear message: violence is not the solution, while sport is an alternative that builds and unites.”
Touched by this gesture, Martin Cani’s mother, Florina, said:
“I am very proud that this mini-pitch has been created for all children. I hope that Martin’s positive energy will always be felt here. Thank you from the bottom of my heart to the Federation.”
His father, Angel Cani, added:
“Thank you to the FSHF for not forgetting Martin and for creating this space for the community and future generations. It is a valuable contribution to children’s future.”
This investment by the Albanian Football Federation goes beyond sports infrastructure. It represents a symbol of remembrance and hope, as well as a strong message about the role sport plays in education, inclusion, and the development of society.
Through such initiatives, the FSHF continues to build not only football pitches, but also real opportunities for younger generations to grow with the best values of sport.
