The Albanian Football Association continues the process of evaluating First Division stadiums as part of its efforts to improve infrastructure, television broadcasting capabilities, and the implementation of the VAR system starting from the 2026/2027 season.
As part of this initiative, the Licensing Department of the AFA, in cooperation with relevant experts, has carried out inspection visits to several stadiums across the country, including Redi Maloku Stadium, Besëlidhja Stadium, Sopoti Stadium, Korabi Stadium, Liri Ballabani Stadium, and Oriku Stadium.
The purpose of these inspections is to assess the current condition of the facilities and identify the improvements required to meet licensing criteria, with the goal of ensuring that matches are played under better organizational and technical conditions.
During the inspections, various aspects were evaluated, including the playing surface, dressing rooms, functional facilities, spectator conditions, safety measures, as well as the infrastructure needed for television broadcasting and the VAR system.
The on-site assessments identified several necessary upgrades, mainly related to the construction or adaptation of broadcasting platforms, the creation of dedicated spaces for the VAR system, improvements to the electrical infrastructure, and the enhancement of organizational standards within the stadiums.
The AFA has provided clubs and stadium administrators with detailed reports containing its findings and recommendations, enabling the required improvements to be planned and completed in time before the start of the new season.
This process forms part of the AFA’s ongoing commitment to raising competition standards and improving football infrastructure at all levels of the game in Albania.
