On January 28, the Albanian Women’s Football Cup will return. Unlike last year, under the new scheme, 9 teams will participate in this competition, excluding Vllaznia, which, based on the Disciplinary Committee’s decision, will not take part this season.
But how will the new scheme work?
The teams will be divided into 3 groups (A, B, and C) with 3 teams each, based on the rankings from the first phase, and matches will be played in a home-and-away format. In Group A, the three teams will be: Gramshi (1), Apolonia (2), and Partizani (3). In Group B, the three teams will be: Egnatia (4), Kinostudio (5), and Laçi (6). Meanwhile, Group C will include the teams ranked in the last three positions: Tirana (7), Teuta (8), and Lushnja (9).
The matches will follow the schedule below:
Group A: 1-3, 2-1, 3-2
Group B: 4-6, 5-4, 6-5
Group C: 7-9, 8-7, 9-8
The first matches will take place on January 28, while the other group matches will be held on February 2 and February 9, 2025.
In the semifinal phase, the teams that finish first in each group and the best-ranked team in second place will advance. To determine the semifinal pairings, a free draw will be conducted among the 4 qualified teams for this round.
