The Football Association welcomed an important event at its premises dedicated to women and girls who practice the profession of refereeing, as part of the awareness initiative “We Judge Equally.”
The aim of this initiative is to place gender equality at the center of decision-making in sports, by empowering the role and voice of women and girls in refereeing. During the event, referees from various categories gathered to share experiences, reflections, and concrete ideas for improving gender representation in this field.
Discussions focused on the challenges faced by girls pursuing this profession, the persistent prejudices, and the need to create more opportunities for a fairer, more open, and more inclusive sport.
The event was organized by AWEN, as part of the project “Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress Toward Gender Equality in Albania,” implemented by UN Women Albania with financial support from the British Embassy in Tirana.
The Albanian Football Association supports and encourages every initiative aimed at empowering the role of women in sports, believing that gender equality is not only a social standard but also a necessity for the development and integrity of football.
