The Regional Football Association of Durrës (SHRF Durrës) held its Ordinary General Assembly today, bringing together its members to discuss key issues related to its activities. A total of 25 members participated, represented by 35 delegates. During the assembly, the activity report of the association was reviewed, financial statements and the budget for 2025 were approved, and the delegates who will represent SHRFD in the General Assembly of the AFA were appointed: Mikel Furxhi, Juljan Godime, and Enid Furxhi.
The AFA President, Armand Duka, attended the meeting, appreciating the activities of the Durrës Regional Association in 2024 and emphasizing the importance of cooperation between the Association, the AFA, and the Municipality of Durrës to improve infrastructure and increase youth participation in football. He encouraged members to continue working towards the growth of Albanian football in the coming years, highlighting that international activities play a crucial role in promoting the game and engaging more children in the sport.
“The activities carried out in 2024 by this Regional Association are truly commendable. A total of 2,300 footballers have been registered with the Durrës Regional Association, despite two major challenges. The first challenge is the ongoing emigration trend, and the second is the lack of adequate infrastructure.
For this reason, I urge the leadership of the Association, with the support of the AFA and local authorities in Durrës, to work towards securing better facilities. The financing of these facilities should be a joint effort between the Albanian Football Association, the Regional Association, and the Municipality of Durrës. Albanian football has made significant progress in recent years, and this development is the result of the dedication of footballers, coaches, and club officials across the country. The Durrës Regional Association has played an essential role in this progress.
I would like to thank the President of the Association, Mikel Furxhi, for his lifelong contribution to Albanian football, as a player, a coach, and as the leader of this association for many years. I also extend my gratitude to everyone else and encourage them to work even harder in the coming year. I invite you all to continue contributing to Albanian football.
We must all work together to bring more children into football. This is our primary goal. If we look at the numbers across the Durrës region, nearly 120 footballers are professionals, while the rest play for academies, associations, and regional championships. You are a major force in the development of football. This will be our focus, but it requires cooperation.
I have great confidence in you and in this Association. With the unwavering support of the AFA, we will have a brighter future, more results, and more regional, national, and international activities. The international events being held in Albania today are truly an important boost for the development of football.
We are promoting our game and giving children more reasons to join us. I wish the Assembly fruitful discussions and once again invite you all to continue contributing to the development of football in Durrës and across Albania with the same dedication you have shown so far. We are, and will always be, united. Together, we will push football forward in Durrës and throughout Albania,”- said President Duka in his speech.

Even the president of the Regional Football Association of Durrës, in his speech, emphasized the achievements of this association in 2024, mentioning the realization of goals, the registration of 2,300 football players and 172 teams, as well as the organization of 1,492 matches for all age groups. He also spoke about initiatives such as the UEFA C coaching course, the development of women’s football, and the commitment to improving infrastructure conditions, viewing cooperation with local institutions and the AFA as essential for the sustainable development of football in Durrës.
The Regional Football Association of Durrës will be joined by two new full members: the “Troplini Academy” Sports Association and the “Durrah City” Sports Association. All members of the SHRFD voted in favor of admitting these associations.
The Association proposed a change to its logo. All members voted in favor of a new, more modern and simple version that retains the historical elements and emphasizes the connection with the past.
