The Albanian Football Association expresses its deep sorrow over the tragic news of the passing of well known sports journalist Saimir Demi.
After a months long battle with a serious illness, Saimir was unable to continue his noble mission in sports journalism, leaving a great void in the journalist community and among all sports enthusiasts.
The Football Association wishes to extend its deepest condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues, who today lost a dedicated professional and a remarkable person.
The president of the AFA, Armand Duka, has also expressed his condolences through a statement published on social media:
“With deep sorrow, I received the tragic news of the untimely passing of Saimir Demi, a dedicated journalist and an extraordinary person. We shared conversations, analyses, and opinions about sports, especially football, a passion that guided his entire professional life.
A beloved individual and tireless professional, Saimir will be greatly missed not only by his family but also by the community of journalists and sports enthusiasts, where he dedicated himself for three decades.
In my personal name and on behalf of the Albanian Football Association, I express my deepest condolences to his family, his wife, and his son, as well as to all the friends who stood by him.
Rest in peace, Saimir! We will always remember you with respect and love.”
