Today, after a serious disease, at the age of 88 years passed away the former national coach and one of the major figures of the Albanian training Prof. Dr. Zyber Konçi. He was one of the prominent figures of Albanian benches in 60-80 years. Professor Zyberi led Albanian national team in 11 matches in two different time periods, October 1963 – May 1965 and September – December 1980. Graduated in one of the best academies in the world in Czechoslovakia, he brought to the Albanian football ideas and most modern training of the time. Professor Dr. Zyber Konçi has an extraordinary contribution also in the introduction of scientific methods at the Institute of Physical Culture and Sports. Unforgettable remains the “Spark” created by him with students in the 1970s.
“It’s a difficult and sad day for football. Our big family has lost today one of the most prominent figures, who during his lifetime has contributed to the development of football, reverence for the values and contributions of Mr. Zyber Konçi” – declared the AFF president Mr. Armand Duka, just after being informed about the painful news.
Tomorrow during 11:30 to 12:30 in the hall of central tribune of the national stadium “Qemal Stafa”, Albanian Football Federation organizes homage in honour to his figure and invites all friends and lovers.
Burial will be conducted at 13:00 o’clock where the former national team coach will rest in the cemetery of Tufina.
