In June, Albania will host the international youth football tournament “Eagle Cup,” an exclusive event linked to the renowned “Viareggio Cup.” The tournament will take place from June 8 to June 15 and will bring together 12 teams from Albania and around the world.
This tournament is organized through the cooperation of the AFA, the “Albitsol” Foundation, the University of Sports of Tirana, and the Centro Giovani Calciatori Viareggio (CGC Viareggio). The event was officially presented today at the “House of Football” during a press conference attended by representatives from all involved parties.
FSHF President Armand Duka expressed his satisfaction with this initiative and assured that the tournament will be a fantastic experience, considering it an excellent opportunity for the development of football in Albania and the promotion of the country on the international stage. He emphasized the significance of this event as a continuation of recent successes in Albanian football and pledged a top-level organization.
Vasenka Rangu, director of the “Albitsol” Foundation, highlighted that the tournament will provide a great platform for young talents and thanked the AFA for the cooperation. Agron Kasa, Rector of the University of Sports, added that without the support of the AFA, organizing such an event would have been nearly impossible and assured full commitment to its success.
The conference was also honored by the presence of well-known figures from Italian football, who praised the organization of this tournament in Albania for the first time and recognized FSHF’s role in supporting youth football.
The “Eagle Cup” is expected to offer a football spectacle with 24 matches played over 6 days, with the winning team set to face the champion of the “Viareggio Cup,” turning this tournament into a key event for youth football in the region.
