On World Children’s Day, the AFA & UNICEF join forces to support children’s rights!

November 20th is recognized worldwide as World Children’s Day. This day holds special significance because children are the future, and football plays a key role in creating a healthy, safe, and inclusive environment. Moreover, football is a powerful educational and protective tool that aids in the development of children.

A few days ago, the AFA and UNICEF signed a memorandum of cooperation to protect and promote children’s rights through football. This partnership ensures that every child has an equal opportunity to participate in sports and activities that highlight their talents and abilities.

Alban Skënderaj, UNICEF’s new National Ambassador for Children, made his debut at the “Air Albania” stadium before the Albania-Ukraine match, delivering a powerful message: “My role as UNICEF’s First National Ambassador is a reminder that, just like on the field, where we aim to score a goal, we must work together off the field and score a goal for children’s rights to ensure every child has the right to a safe, healthy, and happy life.”

Children’s football is one of the key priorities of the Albanian Football Federation. In collaboration with UEFA, FSHF has implemented several important projects in Albania, including: “Uniforma Ime”, “Topi yt”, “100 fushat”, “Step by Step”, “UEFA Playmakers” the “Grow” project, and the “Elite Youth Development Academy.” Through these projects, the main goal is to educate and train children not only in sports but also in educational and personal development.
