The Minister of Tourism, Culture, and Sports, Blendi Gonxhja, was also present at the Ordinary Electoral General Assembly of the Albanian Football Association. In his welcoming speech, Minister Gonxhja emphasized the key role of the AFA in the development of sports and confirmed that the sponsorship law is expected to bring more investment and financial support to football, while expressing his willingness to work closely with sports institutions to implement this initiative.
“The AFA holds an important role, a significant position, and receives great attention. Together, we will play a role to make it much stronger and more supportive of the concrete needs of sports. Football is at the forefront in terms of popularity and significance as a sports movement.
I would like to highlight the good news and reaffirm what we completed last week in the public consultation regarding a very important law that will give us a wide and much-anticipated horizon, which is the sponsorship law.
I emphasize that, first and foremost for sports, football holds a central place regarding its power for promotion and the return on investment that sponsorship brings. This will provide visibility and promotion to those who invest in this sport, naturally many times greater through football, but it will also create a new wave of trust, encouragement, and a cultural desire in our country to give to sports and receive back from sports—through visibility, exposure, and promotion for brands, companies, and anyone for whom it is not just a passion.
This also requires an instrument, which together with President Duka and other experts we are working on, to ensure that this becomes a success without any problems, making it as efficient as possible. Starting from the end of this year, with the completion of sub-legal and procedural acts, it will be operational so that 2027 can mark a new era, injecting more funds, more financial support, and greater backing for sports, where football will have the most prominent role.
