The Albania Women’s National Team made history this evening by achieving the greatest success in the history of women’s football in Albania. Their 5–2 victory over Montenegro was worth far more than just three points in the final standings. The win crowned a journey marked by sacrifice, dedication, and belief, delivering historic results for Albanian football.
For the first time ever, Albania’s women have secured qualification for the play-off stage of the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil, while also confirming their place in League B, ensuring they will continue competing at this important level of European football. The national team also set another milestone by collecting seven points in a League B group for the first time in its history.
This success is the result of the hard work of a group of players with character, personality, and a strong competitive spirit, who have represented the red-and-black jersey with pride and passion in every match. Under the guidance of head coach Armir Grima and his technical staff, and with the continued support of the Albanian Football Association, which has invested in the development of women’s football for many years, this team has written a golden chapter not only for women’s football but for Albanian football as a whole.
The journey of the Albania Women’s National Team will continue in League B in future UEFA competitions. On 18 June, the Red-and-Black girls will learn the identity of their opponent in the first round of the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup play-offs, as they continue to dream and proudly represent Albania on the international stage.
