Football Albania has been in the spotlight of UEFA in recent weeks. Of course, the decision of the UEFA Executive Committee for Tirana to host the first final of the newest competition in Europe, the UEFA Conference League, has been sensational and historic.
In the latest issue of the official magazine of the European football government “UEFA Direct”, the names of Albania, Tirana, the national stadium “Air Albania” and the Albanian Football Association are highlighted on two important topics.
The first is the development of the final of the Conference League in the capital, which will start from next season and has been given a large space, highlighting this event.
“The stadium, with a capacity of 21,690 people, in Tirana, Albania, will host the first final on May 25, 2022, as announced by the UEFA Executive Committee on December 3, 2020,” reads the special article regarding this decision.
This is good news for Albania, which again, through football, managed to be in the center of the European media and to be in the pages of UEFA magazine, positively assessing the image of the country.
In this issue, a considerable space has been given to the 90th anniversary of the Albanian Football Association with a sub-article that explains everything, from the first steps of this institution to the success of qualifying for the finals of Euro 2016.
“Conditions created by the restrictions due to the pandemic caused by COVID-19 prevented the Association from organizing a series of programmed activities, but despite this, the sports community in Albania experienced the festive atmosphere that the AFA conveyed through its messages,” writes the article published in the official UEFA publication.
