The Albanian U-19 women’s national team achieved their second consecutive victory in the first round of qualifiers for the 2025 UEFA European Championship by defeating Moldova 3-0 at the “Arena Kombëtare” stadium. Goals from Stela Vata, an own goal from Moldova, and a goal from captain Xhesika Ndoj sealed the win, with Albania dominating the match almost entirely for the full 90 minutes.
Head coach Luçije Gjini started the match with the following lineup: Spahiu (GK), Hasaj, Nika, Hysa, Vata, Hoxhaj, Qose, Ndoj (c), Methoxha, Ago, Vasa.
The match began well for Albania, who took the lead in the 6th minute. After a beautiful action from Klesta Ago, her shot hit the post, and Stela Vata was quick to capitalize on the rebound and score. Albania led 1-0, and there was a festive atmosphere on the bench and in the stands.
The team maintained a high tempo and never lost their energy or desire to score more goals. Moldova then scored an own goal, handing Albania a second goal, making the score 2-0. The first half ended with this result.
The second half started perfectly for Albania. Captain Xhesika Ndoj scored the third goal with a fantastic long-range shot, following a series of passes, and beating the Moldovan goalkeeper. Albania led 3-0.
The match ended with this score, giving Albania another three points, bringing their total to 6 points, the same as Belarus, who are in first place. Albania will play their third and final match against Belarus on Tuesday, December 3, at 13:30. This match will determine which team advances to League A in the second round.
The U-19 team needs the support of fans for this crucial match, and for this reason, the Albanian Football Association (AFA) encourages all Albanians to come together in the stands of the “Arena Kombëtare” stadium to support the team.
In the other match of the group, played at the “House of Football”, Belarus defeated Montenegro 4-0.
