The Albania U-17 National Team coach, Andrea Tedesco, has taken charge of the squad composed of Red and Black talents born in 2009, who played in two friendly matches against Hungary at the “House of Football” this week.
As part of the preparations for the U-17 European Championship, which will take place in Albania in May, coach Tedesco had the opportunity to test and evaluate young Albanian players who could become part of the U-17 National Team.
In a statement for fshf.org after the second match, coach Tedesco expressed that he was happy with the atmosphere created within the squad and emphasized the importance of following the journey of young players in football.
“We are very satisfied for many reasons. Firstly, because the Association has asked me in recent weeks to also coach the U-16 team. We have had little time together, just two and a half days, and from many boys, we managed to put a team on the field. The result does not matter, because today it could have gone better, as well as in the first match. But in youth football, it is important to see the performance and the growth that the boys show during their time with us, but also throughout a longer journey,”- stated coach Tedesco.
“I am very happy with the staff I have recently met. Even though we have only been working together for a few weeks, a new staff, a positive atmosphere has been created immediately. This is important, especially when working with young players who need to grow, believe in themselves, and represent their country,”- he added.
“Now we close one door and open another because we need to focus on the U-17 European Championship finals and the U-17 team, with which we will gather in March. We need to try to improve the squad a bit,”- emphasized the Italian coach.
“Now that we have a staff capable of calmly organizing daily activities together, I want to thank them. I also want to thank the Federation for entrusting me with the U-16 team, but especially for the opportunity to participate in the U-17 European Championship, which we will start working on from tomorrow as we set aside the U-16,”- concluded the U-17 National Team coach.
