Before the start of the Egnatia – AF Elbasani match, the official inauguration ceremony of the new “Egnatia Arena” stadium in Rrogozhina took place, a historic moment for the club, the city, and Albanian football.
This modern facility was rebuilt from the ground up, thanks to the vision and dedication of KF Egnatia President, Agim Demrozi, as well as the significant financial support from the Football Association.
With the contribution of the AFA, over 2 million euros have been invested in the construction of the new stand, lighting system, roofing and seating, perimeter LED boards, and electronic scoreboard, delivering a modern infrastructure that meets European standards.
The ceremony was attended by the President of the AFA, Armand Duka, and the President of KF Egnatia, Agim Demrozi, who jointly unveiled the inauguration plaque amid loud applause from the fans.
During a statement for fshf.org, President Duka described this day as one of the most important for the football of Rrogozhina and for the Egnatia club. He emphasized that the new stadium, with a capacity of around 5,000 seats and equipped with all the facilities of a category 4 venue, is ready to host any international match.
President Duka concluded his speech with a call for more fans in the stadiums and for better promotion of the Albanian championship.
“This is the best, happiest day for the football of Rrogozhina and for the Egnatia club, as today we officially inaugurate the new sports complex, a stadium with a capacity of around 5,000 seats, equipped with floodlights and all the conditions of a Category 4 stadium, capable of hosting any kind of international match. Fortunately, this venue will host matches of the UEFA European Under-17 Championship in 2025. It is truly a great investment for football, for the entire “Abissnet Superiore”, and not just for Rrogozhina. On this occasion, I would like to thank the Egnatia club for their contribution, their readiness, and also for their sporting achievement, as last year they won all three domestic trophies and continue to be a strong contender. I wish them continued success, and I hope to see many children involved in football. But the main challenge that remains for Egnatia, for all the clubs in the “Abissnet Superiore”, and for Albanian football overall, with the assistance of the Football Association, is better promotion of the league, which I believe is truly exciting. We need more fans in the stadiums to follow the championship. Congratulations, best wishes, and may you enjoy this new facility,” – said President Duka.
The President of Egnatia, Agim Demrozi, called it a historic day for the city of Rrogozhina and thanked the AFA and President Duka for their contribution to the construction of the “Egnatia Arena” stadium.
“Today is a historic day for the city of Rrogozhina. We are inaugurating the new football facility. We are very grateful to the Association, with President Armand Duka at the helm, for the contribution they have given us in the construction of this stadium,” – said the President of Egnatia, Agim Demrozi.
“Egnatia Arena” is now ready to host not only matches of the Albanian championship but also important international fixtures, giving a new boost to the development of football in this region. During the U-17 European Championship, which will take place in Albania from May 19 to June 1, three matches will be held at the “Egnatia Arena” stadium.
