The President of the Albanian Football Association, Armand Duka sent a letter of condolences to his Italian homologue, Gabriele Gravina, for the death of the famous former football player, Paolo Rossi.
In his message, President Duka writes that Rossi was an inspiring source for Albanians during the communist period, transmitting emotions and joy during his play in the pitch, especially during the World Cup 1982, where he helped Italy to be crowned world champion. Among other things, the head of the Albanian government declared that Paolo Rossi was an idol for many generations and that he has a special place in the history of world football.
‘’It was with great sadness, that we learned on the shocking death of Paolo Rossi, a great world class player and an idol for many generations. He was an inspiring source for many Albanians during hard times of communism through emotions and joy at FIFA World Cup 1982. Today football lost another big name and he deserved a unique place in the hall of fame of football history. On behalf of all of us and the Albanian Football Association, I wish to extend my deepest sympathies, the Italian Football Association and the Italian football community’’- writes President Duka in his message addressed to the Italian Football Association.
