Leaders of the Albanian Football Association participated in the 10th anniversary of Jonathan Center, a non-profit organization that operates in Albania for the community of the persons with Down Syndrome. The delegation headed by deputy president of AFA, Mr. Edvin Libohova, Administrative Director Kejdi Tomorri and the legend of Albanian football Sulejman Demollari delivered balls for the youngsters of this center and gave to the founder of this center Mrs.Oreada Kita, a jersey of the national team signed by all the players.
A pleasant surprise was prepared by the children of this center that presented Mr. Libohova with the logo of the Association, crafted by the children and the volunteers of the center.
The cooperation of AFA with Jonathan Center started in the eve of the match Albania-Scotland, where children of the center followed from up close the national team and met with all the players. This cooperation will continue, with the aim to raise awareness, inform and promote the rights and needs of the individuals affected by this syndrome, in order for them to live a healthy and independent life, including sports activities.
The founder of Jonathan Center and at the same time the CEO, Mrs. Oreada Kita, thanked AFA for the strong support in the awareness battle of the public opinion for the Down Syndrome. ‘’We are thrilled that in our 10th anniversary we have started a cooperation sports wise with AFA, a very important discipline for the development of the children and youngsters affected with Down Syndrome. The children of the center experienced extraordinary emotions by watching the game in the stadium. We were assured that this is only the beginning of al long cooperation’’, stressed Mrs. Kita.
On the other side, the deputy President of AFA, Mr. Edvin Libohova, praising the leaders of the center for the dedication they show for the kids, declared that sport has always had a primary role in giving voice and support the people in need and that AFA will always stay close to Jonathan Center in order to support them in other initiatives.
‘’ We are here at Jonathan Center, with which the Association has started a cooperation that started with the match against Scotland, where some of the children were present. Meanwhile, today we came here to deliver footballs and a symbolic jersey signed by all the players. This is not the first activity that we have done and we will continue even in the future. These initiatives are part of the social activities that AFA conducts in such centers all over Albania.
